Things to do on your Mosaic Vacation- for those students who are staying overnight.
Once you have arrived in Falmouth you will want to explore our town. Arriving on the day before your workshop, you will be able to stroll through and enjoy all that this resort town has to offer.
Day One- A bicycle ride and a stroll on Main Street
Arrive in town. Check in to your accommodations at the hotels or inns in the area. If you are early you may want to rent a bike at Corner Cycle and bike along the Shining Sea Bike Path. Be sure to travel north from Corner Cycle about 1/2 mile and check out the mosaic mural that we completed in 2010. It is located under the first bridge that you come to. You may continue on north for 7 miles or so and pass through green forests, scenic salt marshes and cranberry bogs.
If you turn around and bike south you will reach the village of Woods Hole in 4 miles. While traveling on that stretch you will pass along the shoreline for more lovely views.
Not into biking? Make your first stop at Coffee Obsession, a funky cafe, and brush elbows with oceanographers, fishermen and soccer moms. Stroll along the street where you will find lots of eclectic boutiques. Pass by the historic Village Green and and the First Congregational Church which boasts a bell cast by Paul Revere. In season, flag down the trolley and pay 2 bucks( $1 for seniors and handicapped) for a trip to Woods Hole and back. Continue on to Main Street where you will find even more shops and trendy restaurants
Day Two- a workshop and then fun times in the evening.
Rise early and enjoy an awesome breakfast and then walk or drive to your workshop venue- both are in the heart of Falmouth. Your workshop begins at 9:30 am. Afterwards, take in the people watching along Main Street and eat at one of the many outdoor cafe's along the sidewalk. Be sure to stop by Liam Maguire's Irish Pub for a pint and a sing a long before the night is over.
Day Three- After your class, an early dinner and possibly a night at the theater?
Smell the fresh salty air as you awake and stretch. Take a walk along the beach before the crowds arrive. Hot gourmet coffee and teas are available for your mid morning break at each venue. You'll be working hard but having fun chatting with newfound friends. After your gourmet lunch and class ends for the day, make plans to join friends for a quick dinner at one of the many restaurants along Main Street. We'll be happy to recommend a few of our favorites. Another option is to sit on the deck of a waterside restaurant, too.
Starting in the first week of July, on Monday evenings, be sure to go to St. Barnabas Church on the Village Green for a Cape Cod version of a old fashion church dinner - lobster rolls and strawberry shortcake for the sum of $15. Afterwards, step across the street to the Falmouth Congregational Church for a concert by Hyannis Sound, a young men's
A Capella group that has the audience on their feet by the end of the show, and for only a $10 admission fee!
For those who are here on Tuesday thru Sunday in the summertime, you just have to go the College Light Opera Company right next door to Highfield Hall. It is among the best of America's summer stock theater. Just last season we saw a rousing rendition of "Fiddler on the Roof" and the ever popular "Pirates of Penzance". Wednesday night enjoy Movies in the Park on Main Street. Thursdays bring the Art Market to the community center and the local Farmers Market to the Bigelow Marina on Falmouth Harbor, Dance under the stars on Friday nights when local bands play in the park.
These are a few ideas to make you trip the best it can be. We will be happy to assist you with other questions.
